    Something really new in the United Nations stamps was issued in September 1980. when the flags of Members States of the UN were reproduced for the first time At the present there are 153 Member States.
    As it is not possible to print all the flags stamps at one time, the 16 stamps are issued each year on four sheets - four different flags on each sheet of 16.
    The names of the first 16 countries were chosen at random from regional groups by the same method of selection will be followed in the year to come.
    UN STAMPS ARE UNIQUE
    The United Nation is the only international organization, not a county or territory, which is permitted
    to issue its own postage stamps.
    Although they are available to collectors all over the world, they may be used for mailing only from United Nations Headquarters in New York, the Palays de Nations in Geneva and the International Center in Vienna Tho only United Nations post offices in the world
    The stamps are designed by artists chosen from a panel of about 500 professional artists in more than40 counties who take part in the worldwide competition for each issue.
    The stamps are printed by the best security printers of the whole world.
